| Is Your Residential Address zoned for Coffs Harbour High School? |
Each New South Wales public school has a defined local enrolment area. This means that your child is designated to a particular school based on the permanent residential address of their primary caregiver. It is not based on the school that your child may currently be attending. Every public school reserves enough places within their school for students in their local enrolment area.
If the child's primary caregiver resides in the designated area below then that student is, under normal conditions, entitled to attend Coffs Harbour High School. |

| Applying to enrol |
Once you have made the decision to enrol your child, you should contact Ms Collins in the office at our school and request an Application to enrol in a NSW Government school form. Forms are also available at our regional office in Coffs Harbour or online at www.schools.nsw.edu.au. When completed you should submit the form to the school office with copies of your child's most recent school reports attached.
Your application will be considered by the principal to ensure that your child's needs have been identified and assessed. In most cases this process will be completed very quickly. In some circumstances, it will be necessary for the school to gather further information prior to finalising our decision. You can assist by ensuring the information on your application form is accurate and complete.
Please do not purchase items such as uniforms until you receive confirmation of enrolment. If your application is successful, the information you have provided will be used by the school to formally enrol your child.
Prior to the confirmation of any enrolment all intending students and parents will be interviewed by the principal. For the interview you will require proof of identity (e.g. birth certificate), proof of address and copies of any family law or other relevant court orders. |
| Out-of-area applications |
When it comes to considering out-of-area applications the principal is required to follow departmental policy. This is because we must ensure that all eligible in-area students wishing to attend our school are able to do so. Depending on resources, the school may be able to accept additional students from outside our enrolment area but this is at the discretion of the principal.
When the principal reviews applications for non-local (out-of-area) enrolments he is required to consider a range of criteria. He will consider whether there is a vacancy in the appropriate school year group, whether appropriate teaching and support staff are available, whether classroom accommodation is available and whether the child poses a serious risk to the future wellbeing of students and staff in the school. |
| Enrolling a child with special needs |
| As a parent or carer of a child with a learning difficulty or disability, you have access to a team of people from our local regional office that will assist you with your child's enrolment. Depending on your location and your child's needs, you may have access to regular classes in regular schools, support classes in regular schools or a school with specific support services. Before enrolling your child, you will be asked to contact the student support team at North Coast Regional Office. |
| Get to know your new school |
| In December of each year our school hosts orientation days for children who are transitioning from Year 6 into Year 7. These events include a day for students from small schools plus a day for all students including those from small schools. The orientation days are designed to acquaint children with the grounds, teachers, classrooms and fellow students. |
