SCHOOL FEES AND SUBJECT CONTRIBUTIONS

To operate Coffs Harbour High School at a high standard, it is essential we supplement the grant made by the government through our own efforts.  The P & C Association provides a variety of materials for the school.

However, the government grant and the P & C funds are still not enough.  It is therefore necessary for the school to charge a service fee.  This money is used to cover the administrative costs, for sporting equipment, duplicating material for instruction leaflets and examination papers, library purchases, textbooks and a wide range of other services.  In addition, contributions are required for some subjects to cover the cost of materials used by students.  Further information on school contributions will be issued to students early each year and on enrolment.

Fees can be paid using Eftpos at the school. It is expected on-line BPay facilities will be introduced later in 2008.

GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE FOR PARENTS

  1. Student Assistance Scheme - this scheme has been introduced to assist needy families with junior secondary aged children attending secondary schools. This scheme has been introduced in lieu of the bursaries scheme. Cost of school uniforms, textbooks, school excursions, specific subject costs and stationery needs would be regarded as acceptable for the purpose of attracting assistance. Application forms for students wishing to obtain funds from this scheme are available from the Administration Office or from the Welfare Head Teacher.

  2. Commonwealth Student Assistance Schemes - There are several programs of assistance available for secondary students. These include Abstudy, Youth Allowance and Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC). Each have different regulations and you can contact your local Centrelink office. See links above
