Communicating with Parents

Attendance Monitoring
The school places a very high importance on monitoring the attendance of all students. To ensure we monitor students' attendance as best as possible, a sophisticated 'electronic roll' package has been installed and has been operating very successfully throughout 2006. The Electronic Roll is coupled with an automatic SMS reporting system.
Notification of Student Absences Using SMS
CHHS uses mobile phone messages (SMS) to inform parents/caregivers each time their child is away from school, or late without a reason.
At CHHS, student attendance and student safety is a high priority.
The school expects parents/caregivers to contact the school on 6652 3466 by 9am if they know their child is to be absent. If the school has not been notified of an intended absence or lateness an SMS text message will be sent to the mobile phones of parents/caregivers indicating that our records show that your child is absent from school without explanation.
The message will read as follows:
CHHS R&R01 records show Mary Smith is absent today 99/99/99.
Pls provide reason by SMS to 0427786738
Parent - Teacher Afternoons
Parent-Teacher afternoons are held mid-semester for information to be available to parents at a time that allows students to make changes to their work patterns. Refer to School Calendar for dates.
Parents are most welcome to discuss their child's progress with any teacher during the year. Please contact the school to make an appointment.
School Reports
Comprehensive reports for all students will be sent home at least twice a year.

Parent-teacher nights will be held at appropriate times during the year. These are styled on pre-arranged time slots for interviews. Students will be responsible for coordinating such times between their teachers and their parents using booking sheets.

Parents will be informed when a student's behaviour or progress is cause for concern.
